Chelsea have booked their place in the third round of the Carabao Cup after a solid 2–0 victory over Luton Town at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues had to be patient in the first half as Luton defended deep and made life difficult, but Chelsea eventually found the breakthrough after the interval. Danny Welbeck opened the scoring with a well-taken header from Malo Gusto’s cross.
Chelsea then doubled their advantage late in the game after a lively move involving Estêvão resulted in an own goal from Luton defender Hakeem Odoffin.
It was a professional outing from Xabi Alonso’s men, who controlled the game and avoided any late drama. The victory keeps Chelsea’s cup journey alive, and they will now face Leeds United in the third round.
