Makinde, Fayemi and Oyinlola Visit Obasanjo Ahead of 2027 Elections

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Sunday paid a visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence inside the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Makinde was accompanied by former Governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi.

The Oyo governor disclosed the meeting in a post on his verified X account, where he shared photographs from the visit and gave a brief insight into their discussions.

According to Makinde, the meeting focused on critical national issues and the country’s political future as preparations for the 2027 general election gradually gather momentum.

He wrote, “Earlier today, we visited Baba, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, in Abeokuta. Our discussions centred on important national issues in view of the upcoming general election.”

Expressing appreciation to the former president, Makinde added, “We appreciate Baba for his wise counsel at this crucial time in our nation’s history.”

The visit comes at a time of increasing political consultations across the country, with key political figures engaging in strategic meetings and discussions ahead of the next general election. Although details of the deliberations were not made public, the meeting has drawn attention as political alignments continue to take shape in the lead-up to the 2027 polls.
