NYSC Issues Fresh Guidelines for Prospective Corps Members Ahead of Orientation Camp

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has released a fresh set of guidelines for prospective corps members preparing for the upcoming orientation exercise, with a strong emphasis on safety, proper documentation and compliance with registration requirements.

In a notice shared on its official X account on Monday, the scheme urged prospective corps members to avoid travelling at night while heading to their various orientation camps, stressing that their safety should remain a top priority.

“Prospective Corps Members are advised not to travel at night to the orientation camp,” the NYSC stated.

The scheme also warned that anyone whose graduation date on the call-up letter does not match the date on their statement of result would not be allowed to complete registration at the orientation camp.

“Prospective Corps Members with discrepancies in the date of graduation on their call-up letters and the date on their statement of results will not be registered in the orientation camp,” it said.

To avoid unnecessary delays or denial of registration, the NYSC advised affected candidates to resolve any discrepancies before reporting to camp.“They should sort out such issues with the Student Affairs Officers (SAOs) before reporting to the camp,” the statement added.

The management also reminded prospective corps members to complete all necessary documentation before arriving at the camp. This includes printing, signing and submitting the required registration form during the registration process.

“Prospective Corps Members are advised to print and sign the form, which is to be submitted during registration at the orientation camp,” it stated.

In addition, the NYSC outlined the procedure for corps members seeking to correct their dates of birth. According to the scheme, applicants are required to obtain a 19- or 20-digit WAEC Verification PIN before initiating the correction process through their NYSC dashboard.

Candidates are expected to access the “Correction of Date of Birth” section on the portal, enter the WAEC Verification PIN, provide their examination details, verify the information and submit the request for processing.

The NYSC urged all prospective corps members to carefully follow the guidelines to ensure a seamless registration process and avoid any challenges during the orientation exercise.
