Titi Abubakar Defends Atiku, Says He Wants to Give Back to Society

The wife of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Mrs Titi Abubakar, has defended her husband against questions about why he is still seeking the presidency at an advanced age, insisting that his interest in politics is driven by service and a desire to give back to society.

Mrs Abubakar made the remarks on Friday while campaigning for the former Vice-President at a political rally. She described Atiku as an experienced politician and philanthropist who, if elected president in 2027, would not be starting from scratch or learning the ropes of governance on the job.

According to her, Atiku has built enough experience over the years to understand the responsibilities that come with leading the country.

“Atiku is a sellable material. That is why I’m so proud of my husband. Atiku is a philanthropist. Atiku has done it before. Atiku is not going to learn on the job, and Atiku is not a novice,” she said.

Responding to those who have questioned what Atiku, who is set to turn 80 this year, still wants from politics, Mrs Abubakar said her husband was not interested in accumulating Nigeria’s wealth.

She explained that Atiku’s motivation was to repay the society that, according to her, had contributed to his success in life.

“Atiku doesn’t want Nigerians’ money. Atiku just wants to give back to the society what the society has done for him,” she said.The former Vice-President’s wife also said Atiku was interested in
