Report: Dave Umahi Breaks Silence on Woman Found Dead at His Residence

Minister of Works Dave Umahi has denied allegations linking him or his family to the death of a woman reportedly found at his residence, insisting that the claims being circulated are false.

Speaking on the matter, Umahi described the deceased as someone he regarded as a daughter. He said she lived with his family for about three years and worked as a nurse at the Federal Medical University Teaching Hospital, stressing that she was not a physiotherapist as widely reported.

According to the minister, the woman had spoken with her boyfriend shortly before her death and complained that she was bleeding. He claimed the boyfriend ended the call, saying he did not want the situation to become worse.

Umahi questioned why he should be held responsible for the incident simply because it allegedly happened at his residence, arguing that a person’s death in a government ministry does not automatically make the minister culpable.

He maintained that neither he nor any member of his family had any involvement in the woman’s death, warning against what he described as false narratives. He added that if his family had anything to do with the incident, it would eventually come back to haunt them, insisting that his conscience is clear.
