PHOTOS: Tinubu’s 2027 Campaign Kicks Off as APC Supporters Flood Kaduna Stadium

Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have turned out in large numbers at the Kaduna Township Stadium, also identified in reports as Ranchers Bees Stadium, for the flag-off of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 presidential re-election campaign. The rally, scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026, marks the formal beginning of the ruling party’s presidential campaign activities ahead of the next general election. Party supporters from different parts of the country gathered at the venue, wearing campaign-branded outfits, displaying banners and chanting slogans in support of the President.

The stadium witnessed a significant influx of APC members and supporters as preparations reached their final stages. According to reports from the venue, supporters occupied virtually all available seats as they awaited the arrival of Tinubu and other prominent party leaders. The crowd included members of organised support groups, party loyalists and individuals who travelled to Kaduna to participate in the event. The gathering represents one of the ruling party’s major public mobilisation exercises ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The choice of Kaduna as the starting point for the campaign reflects the APC leadership’s intention to begin its nationwide mobilisation in the North-West geopolitical zone. The campaign’s Director-General, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, had earlier announced that the presidential campaign would officially commence in Kaduna on October 24. The decision has also been welcomed by the Kaduna State Government, which has been involved in preparations to receive the President, party officials and supporters from across the country.

Ahead of the rally, APC support groups organised a solidarity march through major parts of Kaduna metropolis to demonstrate their commitment to Tinubu’s re-election bid. The procession, which took place on Friday, attracted participants who moved through parts of the city before proceeding to the Kaduna State Government House, where Governor Uba Sani received the delegation. Organisers said the exercise was intended to showcase their readiness to participate in the campaign and mobilise voters ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking during the solidarity march, Silas Ali Agara, Director of the Presidential Campaign Council’s Support Groups Mobilisation Directorate, said the groups were prepared to support the President’s campaign. He disclosed that the directorate had about 10,000 support groups nationwide and described the Kaduna exercise as the beginning of a broader mobilisation effort. According to him, the groups would work to engage citizens and communicate the administration’s policies and programmes as the election approaches. These statements reflect the campaign organisers’ position and their stated mobilisation plans.

The Kaduna State Government has also expressed readiness to host the campaign flag-off. Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe, who chairs the Local Organising Committee, said preparations had been made concerning the stadium facilities, holding areas, conveniences and security arrangements. The committee also indicated that attendees would undergo screening before entering the venue. Officials said the preparations were designed to accommodate the anticipated crowd and ensure the rally proceeded without unnecessary disruption.

Governor Uba Sani has been among the prominent APC figures involved in preparations for the event. Party officials in the state have expressed confidence in their ability to mobilise substantial support for Tinubu in 2027. The Kaduna APC has previously announced a target of two million votes for the President in the state, presenting the rally as an opportunity to demonstrate the party’s organisational strength. However, the stated target remains a political objective rather than an established electoral outcome.

The campaign flag-off is expected to bring together APC governors, members of the National Assembly, ministers, party executives, political appointees and support groups. Their participation would provide an opportunity for the party to outline its campaign structure and coordinate activities across the federation. The event also offers the ruling party a platform to communicate its record in government and present its case for another term to Nigerian voters. The substance of those arguments and the public response will remain important issues throughout the campaign period.

Tinubu’s anticipated campaign activities come against the background of economic pressures, insecurity, unemployment and continuing public debate over the administration’s policies. As the 2027 election approaches, the ruling party is expected to defend its record and explain how its policies are intended to address the challenges facing Nigerians. Opposition parties and other political actors are also expected to present their alternatives, giving voters competing positions to assess. The campaign period will therefore provide an important opportunity for public discussion about governance, national development and political accountability.

With Kaduna hosting the opening rally, attention will turn to the APC’s subsequent campaign engagements in other states. The party’s published timetable includes planned presidential appearances in Rivers, Plateau and Oyo states, among others. While the large turnout in Kaduna demonstrates the mobilisation effort of Tinubu’s supporters, the rally itself does not determine the outcome of the 2027 election. Ultimately, the contest will be decided by voters through the electoral process, with the competing parties expected to make their cases to Nigerians in the months ahead.
