A 47-year-old church minister has been arrested in Anambra State over allegations that she carried out caesarean sections and other surgical procedures without being a qualified medical practitioner.
According to state authorities, the woman operated a traditional birth attendant facility where she allegedly performed the surgeries despite lacking the necessary medical training and licence.
During a raid on the facility, officials reportedly recovered surgical equipment, hospital beds and a shrine. The government also alleged that the centre has been linked to several medical complications and reported deaths.
The suspect is expected to face further investigation as authorities continue efforts to clamp down on illegal medical practices across the state.
