Breaking: Anambra Government Arraigns Blogger After False Stories About Soludo’s Family

The Anambra State Government has arraigned Ejike Ofoegbu, publisher of Igbo Times Magazine and INews, over allegations of criminal defamation and cybercrime following reports published about Governor Chukwuma Soludo and members of his family.

The case was confirmed by the Anambra State New Media on Monday, stating that Ofoegbu appeared before a Magistrate Court in Amawbia as proceedings in the matter continued.

The arraignment comes shortly after the blogger publicly apologised and withdrew several reports he admitted were false. In his statement, Ofoegbu acknowledged that the stories were fabricated, explaining that they were published without verified facts or credible sources and were intended to attract online traffic and generate revenue.

Among the claims he retracted were reports alleging that Governor Soludo had disowned his son, Ozonna Soludo, as well as stories suggesting the governor’s son made defamatory remarks about his father. He admitted the reports were untrue and apologised to Governor Soludo, his family, readers and the people of Anambra State for publishing the false information.
