Killings: North Is Bleeding, NEF Tells FG

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has issued a powerful and emotional statement that echoes the anguish of millions: “This country is bleeding, and it is bleeding from the North.”

Following the brutal killing of 18 wedding guests in Plateau State—ambushed, hacked, and burned alive—the NEF says enough is enough.

💔 A Nation in Crisis

The victims, mostly from Basawa, Kaduna State, were traveling in a clearly marked Ahmadu Bello University vehicle when they lost their way in Mangu LGA. What followed was a premeditated massacre that has shaken the country to its core.

> “This was not a case of mistaken identity. It was an act of evil,” said NEF spokesperson Prof. Abubakar Jiddere.

⚠️ NEF’s Demands to the Federal Government

The Forum didn’t mince words. They called the killings a crime against humanity and a stark indictment of leadership failure. Their demands include:

  • Immediate arrest and public prosecution of the perpetrators
  • Accountability from Plateau State and federal security agencies
  • A federal security overhaul—not just redeployments, but a strategic, well-funded campaign
  • Massive deployment of trained personnel to violence-ridden areas
  • Clear timelines and measurable outcomes from the FG

🧠 Final Thoughts—A Cry for Justice, Not Sympathy

From the North-West’s emptied villages, to the terror in the North-East, and the routine killings in the North-Central, the NEF says what was once sporadic unrest has now become systemic terror, thriving under impunity and governmental inertia.

This isn’t just a call for help—it’s a demand for justice, dignity, and the right to live without fear.

💬 Is this the wake-up call Nigeria needs—or just another cry lost in the noise? Let’s talk.
