Emir of Katsina Tackles Tinubu’s Campaign DG Yari, Radda, Others Over Insecurity: “Stop Deceiving Nigerians, Tell the Truth”

The Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Dr. Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, has challenged Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda and other political leaders to prioritise insecurity and economic hardship over political ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The monarch made the remarks during a visit by a delegation led by Yari, which included Governor Radda, former Governor Aminu Bello Masari and other political stakeholders.

In a video circulating on social media, the Emir criticised politicians who seek traditional rulers’ prayers and support during elections but abandon the people after securing political offices.

“Every four years you come to my palace with cap in hand, asking for prayers, asking for support. After election, you disappear to Abuja, to Lagos. You don’t come back until next election,” he reportedly said.

He expressed concern over persistent insecurity in Katsina State, noting that banditry had forced the closure of schools and made it difficult for farmers in 12 local government areas to access their farmlands. He also referenced reports of families paying millions of naira in ransom to secure the release of kidnapped relatives.

The Emir urged political leaders to focus on tackling insecurity, reviving the economy and addressing the rising cost of living rather than concentrating on campaign appointments and political contests.

He also questioned the closure of major industries, including Peugeot’s northern operations in Kaduna and Arewa Textiles, and called for efforts to revive the region’s economy.

The monarch further warned that distributing food and money during election campaigns would not guarantee electoral support, urging political leaders to stop deceiving Nigerians, tell the truth and demonstrate genuine commitment to improving the lives of ordinary citizens.
