Report: UNIZIK Breaks Silence on Viral Lecturer and Student Video

The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has denied reports linking the institution to a viral video that allegedly showed a lecturer caught in an inappropriate act with a female student.

The video, which has been widely shared on social media, claimed the incident happened on the university campus and identified the man involved as a lecturer at UNIZIK. It also showed a group of students attempting to force their way into an office before the man allegedly escaped through a window.

However, in a statement issued by the university’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Aloysius Attah, the institution described the claims as false and misleading.

According to the university, an internal verification showed that the incident did not occur on the UNIZIK campus and that the man seen in the video is neither a member of staff nor connected to the institution. The university also stated that none of its students was involved in the incident.

UNIZIK stressed that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of student exploitation and that its staff are expected to uphold the highest ethical standards.

The management further urged the public, media organisations and social media users to verify information before sharing it, warning that false reports can damage the reputation of innocent individuals and institutions.
