MTN Nigeria has cautioned its subscribers against fake 25GB data giveaway offers currently making the rounds online as part of the telecommunications company’s 25th anniversary celebration.
The warning was issued through MTN’s support account on X on Saturday, with the company urging customers to be careful with suspicious links and platforms claiming to offer the anniversary data bundle.
MTN stressed that the genuine 25GB anniversary giveaway is available only through the MyMTN NG App and MTN eShop.The telecom giant warned subscribers not to click on unverified links, disclose personal information or make payments on websites and platforms claiming to be offering the promotional data.
“Please beware of fake MTN 25th Anniversary 25GB giveaway offers circulating online.“ The official MTN 25GB Anniversary Giveaway is available ONLY via the MyMTN NG App and MTN eShop.“ Do not click on links, share your personal information or make payments on any other platform claiming to offer the giveaway. “Only trust official MTN channels,” the company stated.
MTN explained that eligible customers can access the offer by logging into the MyMTN App and selecting “Redeem Now” on the anniversary banner. Subscribers can also access the promotion through the MTN eShop and follow the instructions provided.
The company added that customers who received an SMS notification about the offer could also use the link contained in the message, provided the message was received through MTN’s official communication channels.
MTN further advised subscribers to rely on its verified platforms and official messages for accurate information about the anniversary promotion.
According to the company, the 25GB free data bundle will remain valid until 11:59pm on the stated expiry date, and eligible subscribers are encouraged to redeem the offer before it expires.
The warning comes as several posts and links claiming to offer free MTN data continue to circulate across social media and other online platforms, raising concerns that unsuspecting subscribers could fall victim to scams designed to obtain their personal information or money.
