The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is set for a change in leadership as its Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, officially hands over the affairs of the examination body to Prof. Segun Aina on Friday, July 31, 2026.
The handover marks the end of Prof. Oloyede’s tenure, during which he oversaw major reforms aimed at strengthening the integrity, transparency and efficiency of Nigeria’s tertiary admission process.
Since assuming office, Oloyede introduced several initiatives to curb examination malpractice, improve the credibility of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and enhance the use of technology in JAMB’s operations. His administration also recorded increased revenue generation and implemented policies designed to make the admission process more transparent for candidates and tertiary institutions.
Prof. Segun Aina now takes over at a time when expectations remain high for the Board to consolidate on the achievements of the outgoing registrar while addressing emerging challenges in Nigeria’s education sector.
Stakeholders across the education sector are expected to closely watch the transition, expressing hope that the new leadership will sustain reforms, improve service delivery and continue strengthening confidence in the country’s admission system.
The official handover ceremony on Friday is expected to attract government officials, education stakeholders and members of the academic community as JAMB begins a new chapter under its incoming registrar.
