The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has intensified preparations for the 2027 governorship election following the formal unveiling of Godswill Egbe as the running mate to the party’s candidate, Eric Opah.
Opah presented Egbe to party members in Umuahia, the state capital, describing his running mate as a man of integrity and someone he believes can work with him effectively without unnecessary disagreements.
The APC candidate declared that the party is contesting the election with a clear objective of winning and taking responsibility for the development of the state.
Opah also promised that an APC administration under his leadership would focus on accountability, infrastructure and job creation. He criticised the practice of making exaggerated claims about government projects, saying his administration would ensure that public funds are genuinely used for the benefit of Abians.
The state APC chairman, Chijioke Chukwu, expressed confidence in Egbe, describing him as a man of integrity and “a chosen man of God’s will.”
In his acceptance speech, Egbe pledged to support Opah and align himself with the party’s manifesto and vision. He assured party members of his commitment, loyalty and willingness to work under the leadership of his principal.
Egbe further declared that the APC was determined to secure victory in the 2027 election and contribute to what he described as a resounding victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
With the unveiling of Egbe, the APC has formally presented its governorship ticket and signalled its determination to mount a strong campaign for control of Abia State in 2027.
