2027: Buba Galadima Claims Tinubu Has Backing of ‘34½ Governors’ Ahead of Election

NDC chieftain Buba Galadima has claimed President Bola Tinubu enjoys backing of 34 and a half governors ahead of 2027 presidential election.

Speaking Friday during inauguration of NDC reconciliation committee, Galadima said Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde is only governor firmly outside Tinubu’s camp, while Abia Governor Alex Otti is aligned with President despite remaining in Labour Party.

He described Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed as the “half” — undecided and on the fence, able to work with either NDC or APC. Galadima said discussions with Mohammed lasted till 3am and he was expected to defect to NDC but changed mind after advice not to join party with strong presidential candidate.

The claim comes amid massive realignment that saw APC gain former PDP governors including Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, Peter Mbah of Enugu, Douye Diri of Bayelsa, Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Agbu Kefas of Taraba, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, and NNPP’s Abba Yusuf of Kano.

Other non-APC governors like Anambra’s Charles Soludo and Osun’s Ademola Adeleke have also publicly backed Tinubu’s re-election bid.
