Breaking: Troops Arrest Foreign Woman Allegedly Supplying Drugs to Terrorists in Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a suspected foreign drug courier and recovered a large quantity of illicit drugs, alcoholic drinks and other prohibited items believed to be headed for terrorists hiding in the Lake Chad region.

The suspect, identified as Mrs. Rachael Samuel, a 48-year-old Chadian national from Chari-Baguirmi Province, was intercepted on July 9, 2026, while travelling towards Kwatan Doron Baga in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.In a statement released by the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Capt. Mohammed Goni, the arrest followed a routine search operation carried out by troops along the Maiduguri–Monguno road.

According to the military, preliminary investigations suggest the recovered items were being transported to areas within the Lake Chad Islands, where terrorist groups are known to operate.

Items recovered from the suspect include 30 kilograms of suspected cannabis, two 10-litre containers of hydromercuric chloride, popularly known as “Suck and Die,” one carton containing 48 bottles of dry gin, 61 bottles of herbal alcoholic drinks, a mobile phone, two ATM cards, cash and other personal belongings.

The suspect is expected to face further investigation as security agencies continue efforts to cut off supplies to terrorist groups operating in the North East.
