Lying is a Crime!” — JAMB Issues Final Warning to 2026 UTME Candidates Over ‘Fake’ Registration Details- If you’re planning to “play a fast one” on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) this year, you might want to think twice!
The board has officially sounded the alarm for all 2026 UTME candidates: one single lie on your registration form could end your dreams of higher education before they even begin. The “No Vision, No Registration” PolicyJAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, has made it clear that the 2026 registration cycle is all about integrity. Under the new “No Vision, No Registration” policy, the board is deploying advanced live monitoring and biometric systems to catch cheats in real-time.
The Heavy Cost of “False Info”: The Board isn’t just threatening to cancel results; they are going for the jugular. If you are caught providing false information—especially regarding your National Identification Number (NIN) or your matriculation status—here is what you face:
Automatic Invalidation: Your registration and any previous admission will be instantly cancelled.
The “Ban” Hammer: You could be banned from sitting for the UTME for several years.
Handover to Police: JAMB has warned that identity fraud and manipulation will lead to criminal prosecution.
The Big “Matriculation” Trap: One major update for 2026 is the Mandatory Disclosure of Matriculation Status.
Important Note: If you are already a student in a university or polytechnic and you want to write JAMB again to change courses, you must declare it. JAMB revealed that over 90% of exam malpractice cases last year involved “professional candidates” who were already students in tertiary institutions. Failing to disclose that you are already an undergraduate is now considered a serious offense that will cost you both your current and your new admission.
Important 2026 UTME Deadlines: Don’t let the clock run out while you’re still “arranging” your details: Registration Deadline: Thursday, February 26, 2026.Extension Status: JAMB has explicitly stated there will be NO EXTENSION.The Novel: Make sure you’ve started reading “The Lekki Headmaster” by Kabir Alabi Garba—it’s the official text for this year!
What do you think? Is JAMB being too harsh on students who are just looking for a “better” course, or is this the only way to stop exam malpractice in Nigeria? Share your thoughts in the comments below! 👇🏾
