Dangote: Petrol Prices in Nigeria Are Relatively Cheap Compared to West Africa

What Dangote Said

Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, has stated that petrol is not expensive in Nigeria, despite public frustration over rising fuel costs.

📢 Speaking at the launch of the Deep Sea Port Access Road reconstruction in Lagos, Dangote emphasized that fuel prices in Nigeria remain lower than in other West African countries.

📢 He noted that while Nigerians complain about petrol costing less than ₦900 per litre, fuel prices in neighboring countries exceed $1 (₦1,600) per litre.

📢 Dangote also praised improvements in fuel supply, stating that most petrol stations that were previously shut down are now operational, and fuel queues are a thing of the past.

Public Reaction & Market Trends

🚨 Despite Dangote’s remarks, many Nigerians still struggle with high fuel costs, which range between ₦800 and over ₦1,000 per litre.

🚨 The government’s “Naira-for-Crude” policy has helped stabilize fuel prices, but concerns remain about affordability.

🚨 Dangote also announced that the road leading to his refinery has been named after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in appreciation of government support.
