2027: Esther Okereke Pledges 25,000MW Electricity Generation in First 100 Days

The presidential candidate of the National Rescue Movement, Esther Okereke, has promised to make Nigeria’s power sector one of her administration’s immediate priorities if elected president in the 2027 general election.

Okereke pledged to increase the country’s electricity generation to 25,000 megawatts within her first 100 days in office, describing reliable electricity as a key foundation for economic growth, job creation and improved living standards.

She said her administration would pursue practical reforms aimed at addressing the challenges that have continued to frustrate Nigeria’s power sector, insisting that Nigerians deserve a stable electricity supply.

According to the presidential candidate, achieving the target would also help businesses reduce their dependence on costly alternative sources of power, boost productivity and create a more favourable environment for investment.

Her promise comes as electricity supply remains a major concern for households and businesses across the country, making the power sector one of the key issues likely to feature prominently in the 2027 presidential campaign.
