Miyetti Allah Condemns Killing of Member, Livestock Rustling in Benue

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has expressed outrage over the murder of one of its members and the rustling of over 1,185 cattle and 54 sheep in Agatu and Guma Local Government Areas of Benue State.

What Happened?

🚨 The incidents reportedly began in mid-May 2025, with multiple cases of cattle rustling affecting herders in the region.

🚨 On June 2, 2025, 905 cattle and 54 sheep were stolen near Yogbo community in Guma LGA, close to the Nasarawa State border.

🚨 The Benue State Police Command intercepted some rustlers, recovering 162 cattle, but 743 cattle and all 54 sheep remain missing.

🚨 On June 3, 2025, suspected Tiv youths allegedly attacked Miyetti Allah members near Lafia Garage in North Bank, Makurdi, killing Sani Hassan, one of the affected herders.

Government & Security Response

📢 Agatu Local Government Chairman, Melvin James, confirmed the reports, stating that police and Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) are investigating the matter.

📢 Benue State Police Command acknowledged the killing and cattle rustling, warning criminal elements to desist from further violence.
