EFCC Arraigns Man for ₦23.5 Million Visa Scam in Lagos

A Fraudulent Visa Scheme Exposed

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Ewulum Chimeze Felix before Justice Mojisola Dada at the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos, on an 11-count charge related to obtaining money by false pretenses, stealing, possession of fraudulent documents, and forgery.

How the Scam Worked

🚨 Felix allegedly promised to help a petitioner obtain a UK visa, work permit, and certificate of sponsorship but failed to deliver after collecting ₦23.5 million.

🚨 One charge states he fraudulently obtained ₦18,038,000 from a victim under false pretenses.

🚨 Another charge accuses him of possessing fraudulent documents, including a forged Florida driver’s license.

Court Proceedings & Next Steps

⚖️ Felix pleaded not guilty to all charges.

⚖️ Prosecution counsel M. B. Isha requested a trial date and urged the court to remand Felix at a correctional center.

⚖️ Defense counsel Michael O. Nwigbo applied for bail, requesting a short date for the hearing.

⚖️ Justice Dada adjourned the case to June 17, 2025, for trial and ordered Felix’s remand pending proceedings.
