Businessman Sentenced to 74 Years for ₦360M Fraud in Lagos

A Decade-Long Criminal Case Ends in Conviction

🚨 Chukwudi Okonkwo Goodness, a 45-year-old businessman, has been sentenced to 74 years imprisonment by the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ajah.

🚨 Justice Josephine Oyefeso delivered the ruling on June 10, 2025, convicting Goodness on 32 out of 33 charges related to stealing and issuing dud cheques.

🚨 The case spanned nearly a decade, with Goodness first arraigned in 2016 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Breakdown of the Sentence

📢 Seven years imprisonment for stealing ₦360 million from businessman Henry Nnadike.

📢 Two years imprisonment for each of the 30 counts of issuing dud cheques, totaling 60 years.

📢 Seven years imprisonment for fraudulent conversion, bringing the total to 74 years.

📢 The sentences will run concurrently, meaning Goodness will serve seven years in total.

Additional Court Orders

🔍 Goodness must restitute ₦215 million within 30 days, after which he may be considered for a fine.

🔍 He was acquitted on one charge related to possession of fraudulent documents.
