ATLANTA, GA — April 26, 2025

Authorities are investigating a tragic incident late Friday night after a woman was struck and killed by a speeding vehicle in the parking lot of Blue Jay’s Bar.

According to witnesses, 26-year-old Alyssa Brooks was seen arguing with 28-year-old Jason Carter moments before the attack.
Following the heated exchange, Carter reportedly entered his black Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 — known among friends as “Midnight” — and accelerated toward Brooks.

Eyewitnesses say Brooks attempted to flee, but Carter struck her at high speed, knocking her onto the roadside.
Reports indicate Carter then circled back and ran over Brooks a second time before fleeing the scene.

Emergency services arrived shortly after but pronounced Alyssa Brooks dead at the scene due to severe trauma.

Jason Carter was apprehended two miles away after a short police pursuit.
He is currently facing charges of first-degree murder and vehicular homicide.

The motive remains under investigation, but police have confirmed the two individuals were previously acquainted.
