On Monday, July 7, 2025, the skies over Enugu roared with more than just jet engines—they echoed with hope, ambition, and a bold vision for regional transformation.
Enugu Air, Nigeria’s newest state-owned airline, was officially commissioned by Governor Peter Mbah, marking a historic milestone not just for the state, but for the entire Southeast region.
But this isn’t just about planes. It’s about people.
At the commissioning ceremony, Governor Mbah made it clear:
“Enugu Air does not belong to the government. It belongs to the traders, students, investors, and travellers who will use it.”

“You’re in PDP, but we’re scared of your successes,” he joked. “Run this airline professionally—don’t let it go the way of Nigerian Airways.”
